Yes, apply early – there is no requirement for an assigned study place – preferably before or simultaneously with applying for a study place through Samordna opptak. The student housing is allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, so the earlier you apply, the higher up on the applicant list you will be placed.
You can submit an electronic housing application at any time during the year.
For the autumn semester, available housing is allocated continuously from the end of April.
If there are specific circumstances we should consider when assigning housing, documentation for this must be uploaded to the application:
If you have a disability or other medical reasons why you require housing with universal design, you can upload a doctor’s certificate or other documentation.
If there are other considerations we should take into account due to medical reasons, you must also upload documentation for this.
The main allocation for student housing for the new academic year starts at the end of April.
We send out offers for student housing continuously.
If someone declines the offer they receive, an offer is immediately sent to the next person on the waiting list. Therefore, we do not have a deadline or a specific time for sending out housing offers.
Unfortunately, it is difficult for us to provide information about your position on the waiting list. Those who have already applied for student housing can make changes to their application. This leads to the waiting list constantly changing.
We promise to provide you with an answer as soon as we have housing to offer you. We do our best to allocate student housing to as many people as possible!
If the tenancy agreement starts in August, you can cancel the housing before July 25th, completely free of charge.
Cancellation should be sent to [email protected].
What happens if I have signed a housing contract?
A signed housing contract is legally binding. If you have been allocated housing and do not get a study placement, you must release the housing as soon as possible.
Here you will find an overview of all our housing units.
We do not have a public listing of available units, as this changes constantly.
Submit an application, and you will be notified in the form of an assigned lease agreement if the housing unit is available.
Can I apply for student housing in the middle of the semester? You can apply for student housing all year round. Housing units are allocated continuously according to the applicant list as soon as we have units ready for renting.

Yes, it is possible. If both/all of you apply for the same type of housing (shared apartments with shared common areas such as kitchen and/or bathroom) and enter the name/names of those you wish to live with, we will try our best to accommodate your request.
We have few, and in some study locations none, 3- or 4-bedroom apartments, and students with children have first priority for these.
Unfortunately, we do not have the capacity to conduct viewings of our housing units. You can view pictures of most of the housing types on our housing pages
You will be removed from the queue and placed at the back of the queue for the new housing unit you have applied for.
To secure housing, it would be wise to accept the housing unit you are allocated and then potentially apply for a housing transfer later after moving in.
We allocate your first choice as far as possible. If you haven’t received it, it’s because there are no available units. Please do not apply for housing types you would not consider living in – we assume you want offers for the ones you applied for, even if they are your last choice.
After you have moved in, you can apply to switch to, for example, your first choice. You may then be allocated this when a unit becomes available.
No, changes you make to your application do not affect your position on the applicant list.
You can find the agreement on the SINN Bolig app or on My Page. Carefully read through the tenancy agreement and attachments before signing. We recommend signing electronically with BankID.
If you are unable to sign electronically, you can print it out and sign it manually. Scan or take a picture of the signed lease agreement and upload it to My Page or send it to us at [email protected].
Maintenance services, electricity, heating, access to laundry facilities, and free use of internet are included in the rent.
